Tuition Assistance Program
The City of Lynchburg offers a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to eligible employees for coursework toward a college degree, professional certification, or developmental training. This employment benefits supports the City’s goal of attracting and retaining a qualified workforce. TAP encourages and enables employees to increase their knowledge and skill as it relates to their work.
Eligibility
Full-time employees who have completed one year of continuous satisfactory service with the City may apply for tuition assistance. Full-time employees and part-time employees with benefits who have completed either two years of continuous service or have worked the equivalent hours of a full-time position (2080 hours), whichever occurs first, may also request tuition assistance. How to Apply
HR will accept requests for tuition assistance when eligible employees register for a class(es) or course(s) throughout the year on a rolling basis.
- Register for your class.
- Complete the Tuition Assistance Program Application.
- Submit your application to HR with a copy of the registration prior to the beginning of the course(s).
- Finish your class and submit the grade with the completed Grade Submission Form to HR within 30 days of the class end date.
- Receive your reimbursement (advance payment to the school is still an option).
