The City of Lynchburg is required to prepare a comprehensive plan as a long-term guide to organize and development a community initiative. The plan promotes the City’s goals, objectives and policies as decisions are made on current and long term needs. It also addresses such things as capital investments, land use and future development; parks and open spaces, affordable housing, transportation, tourism, sustainability, the environment urban growth and more.
Public participation and input from citizens are important in the development of the Comprehensive Plan as the needs and desires of the community can help craft an effective plan. The Lynchburg Planning Commission will oversee the drafting process which is expected to begin in January 2024.

Members of the City’s Department of Community Development will be on hand to offer information and to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served at all of the meetings.
