Informational Meeting Re: Lakeside Dr. Bridge Over Black Water Creek Project (Aug. 6)
On Thursday, August 6, 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m an in-person informational meeting regarding the Lakeside Drive Bridge Over Blackwater Creek Project will be held at the University of Lynchburg’s Cybersecurity Building, 1405 Lakeside Drive.
This project will realign US 221/Lakeside Drive north of the existing roadway as a four-lane highway from Blue Ridge Street to east of Joel Street. In addition to the associated road construction, the project will include the following key features:
- Roundabout intersection between Old Forest Road, College Drive, Lakeside Drive and Hopwood Drive.
- Realignment of the existing intersection between Old Forest Road, College Drive, and Lakeside Drive, including the removal of existing signalization features.
- Four-lane, multi-span bridge with shared use paths over Blackwater Creek.
- Addition of sidewalks for improved pedestrian travel throughout the project area.
At this meeting, representatives from the City of Lynchburg and consultants will discuss preliminary project details, including a predicted start date for construction, phases of work and the estimated project duration.
Anyone attending is asked to practice social distancing and to wear a mask or face covering due to COVID-19 precautions.
