Community Development Block Grant Funds (Round 3) Available to Address COVID-19 Needs
The application process for receipt of Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (Cares Act) (CDBG-CV-Round 3) funds in Program Year (PY) 2019/Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021) begins today, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 and ends on Monday, March 15, 2021. Applications are available here or by contacting the Grants Administration Office, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. by calling (434) 455-3916 or by sending an email.
All applications must be completed and returned to the Grants Administration Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 15, 2021 to be eligible for funding consideration by Lynchburg City Council. Pursuant to the Citizen Participation Plan, public comments on the applications will be received during a City Council public hearing tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 13 at
7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 900 Church Street.
The City will receive $389,143 in CDBG-CV Round 3 funds through the CARES Act from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for PY 2019/FY 2021. The primary objectives of the use of the funds are to assist in meeting the emergency needs within the City of Lynchburg related to the Coronavirus in order to prevent, prepare for and respond to the virus.
