    City Council to Conduct Public Hearing Regarding Consolidated Plan for HUD (June 23)

    On Tuesday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m., Lynchburg City Council will conduct a public hearing in City Hall, Council Chamber, 900 Church Street, regarding the following item:

    The City of Lynchburg has prepared a Consolidated Plan (CP) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Planning and Development Programs.  This document is a requirement for direct financial assistance under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) program.  The CP covers the five-year period beginning July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025.  
    The City has also prepared the Annual Action Plan for the Program Year 2020 (FY) 2021.  As well, an updated Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) has been prepared to satisfy the requirements of HUD. Copies of these three documents are available for public viewing from now until 5:00 p.m. on June 23, 2020 or by clicking here
    The Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) will conduct a meeting on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. in City Council Chamber regarding these three documents. The public is welcome to view the meeting at www.lynchburgva.gov/ltv (Click on “Watch LTV Live”), www.facebook.com/lynchburgva, or on Comcast Cable Channel 15.
    The City intends to submit these three documents to HUD on or before June 30, 2020. Those wanting to express their views in writing, on these three documents may contact:  Angie Shepard, Grants Administration Office, 900 Church Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504. All comments received by Tuesday, June 23, 2020 will be considered and appended to the documents.  
    PLEASE NOTE: A limited number of citizens will be allowed in the Council Chamber due to COVID-19 precautions. Anyone in the Chamber will be asked to practice social distancing and to sit in designated spaces. If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with flu-like symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend the hearing.
    Alternate methods to participating in-person at the public hearing include: 
    1. Call (434) 455-3998. These calls will be recorded and played during the public hearing following any in-person comments. The three-minute speaking limit applies. Phone comments will be cut off at the three-minute mark as they would be for a person speaking in Council Chamber.
    2. Citizens may also send written comments on these topics to Grants Administration no later than Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Written comments can be emailed to CDAC@lynchburgva.gov or mailed to Angie Shepard, Grants Administration, 900 Church Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504.
