Juvenile Services Administration

The Division of Juvenile Services is part of the Lynchburg Department of Human Services. Our division serves at-risk youth and families from the region including but not limited to the city of Lynchburg and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Nelson.  

The purpose of Juvenile Services is to serve at-risk youth and families who are before a Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court by providing a continuum of assistance that include prevention, early intervention, residential services, home- based services, and secure detention.  Programs are based on a restorative justice model which emphasizes public safety, accountability, and rehabilitation.  Lynchburg Juvenile Services strives to provide comprehensive, collaborative, and quality services that empower youth and families to create a model community. 

Lynchburg Juvenile Services is comprised of the Lynchburg Youth Group Home (formerly SPARC House and Opportunity House), the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention CenterOutreach Detention ServicesYouth and Prevention Services, and Comprehensive Services Act (CSA). The Group Home and the Detention Center are located on the same grounds and are known as the Lynchburg Juvenile Services Complex.
