On Thursday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m., the City of Lynchburg invites the public to an informational meeting to discuss the next phase of the Downtown Renewal Project on Main Street. The meeting will take place at the Lynchburg Grand Hotel, 601 Main Street. Light refreshments will be provided.
The next phase of the project will take place between 12th Street and the Lynchburg Expressway, and construction is scheduled to begin in late 2023. At this meeting, City staff will provide a brief history of the project, its current status, what the next phase will involve and planned communications with stakeholders before and during the project. A question and answer session will follow.
The Downtown Renewal Project began in 2019 with the replacement of aging waterlines and modernizing the underground electrical system to improve reliability and provide for future development. The City will continue to restore the area with updated streetscape features that encourage an enhanced pedestrian and vehicular experience to include new brick sidewalks, historically-designed streetlights, new trees and plantings and redesigned parking and loading zone areas.
