The Department of Fleet Services was established in 2000 and is responsible for all fleet-related matters within the City of Lynchburg. Fleet assets consist of vehicles and other equipment used by city agencies while providing services relating to the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Lynchburg. Fleet operates an ASE-certified Blue Seal shop which provides all major maintenance services using city staff and facilities, with the exception of certain contracted services such as accident repairs, towing, and parts management.

Maintenance services are available from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fleet Services also operates a city-owned Central Fuel site providing access to fueling around the clock via an automated fuel management system. When vehicles and equipment reach the end of their lifecycle, they are sold to the public via third-party and online auctions.
