    Fire Safety Trailer

The Lynchburg Fire Department's Fire and Life Safety Trailer was placed in service in May 2003.

Purchased through a grant received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Fire & Life Safety Trailer is an interactive teaching tool used to demonstrate fire and life safety lessons to educational facilities, both small and large gatherings.

Designed primarily for use by groups of 25 or more, the Fire & Life Safety Trailer contains a kitchen, living room, and bedroom that are used to conduct the fire safety lessons.  The design of the trailer allows all of the lessons to be interactive such as: Stay Low and Go, Get Out Stay Out, Stop Drop and Roll, and Call 911. In addition to the educational props used during the lessons, the trailer operator has the ability to inject artificial smoke into any of the rooms and sound any one of a number of smoke alarms.
