Fifth Street Survey Report

In February 2021, City Council discussed the possibility of renaming the Fifth Street corridor, Martin Luther King Boulevard. Council requested that City staff begin the process of gathering public input regarding the possibility of renaming Fifth Street and to gather suggestions on how to best honor the contributions of Lynchburg’s African American citizens.

The City published a survey and also hosted a virtual town hall about Fifth Street. Comments and suggestions from the survey, the town hall and comments received by email have been compiled into the document below.
