Emergency Preparedness
The Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services is part of the Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador program organized by the National Weather Service. As a WRN Ambassador, we are committed to promoting Severe Weather Safety, collaborating with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) on resiliency initiatives, and serving as an example to our community in our preparedness behaviors. As a WRN Ambassador, we want to share with you the National Weather Service's pages on Severe Weather Safety! Some hazards that we are vulnerable to in Lynchburg include hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, high heat, winter storms, thunderstorms, and other types of wind events. Please click on the WRN Ambassador logo on the right for links to these Weather Safety pages.
