The Dearington Neighborhood Plan is an ongoing collaborative effort between the Dearington Neighborhood and the City of Lynchburg to identify a shared vision for the neighborhood's future and then plan to achieve it. The momentum and the need for a neighborhood plan in Dearington is built on a number factors—2019 neighborhood center renovations, 2016 drainage improvements in Jefferson Park, existing aging public housing, potential to use the City’s Brownfields grant, city-wide housing needs, and aging utility lines due for replacement, which all amount to an enormous opportunity to plan for Dearington’s future. This planning effort is being undertaken to identify other needs and opportunities and to develop recommendations with the community that will improve the livability of one of Lynchburg’s key neighborhoods.

Please see the Neighborhood Meetings button above to see how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected these efforts and how we will continue to work together going forward.
