    Lynchburg Tourism

    There is still lots to do while keeping your distance from others in Lynchburg. Check out Tourism's website for lots of options!


    Lynchburg Public Library

    The Lynchburg Public Library, located at 2315 Memorial Avenue, reopened to the public on October 1st. Library hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with extended hours on Tuesdays until 7:00 p.m. A limited number of public computers will be available.

    During the weekdays (Monday through Friday), the period of 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. will be reserved for seniors and at-risk individuals only.

    Library patrons are asked to observe the following guidelines:

    • Masks are required for patrons ages three and older.
    • Practice physical distancing and frequent hand washing/hand sanitizing.
    • Limit library visits to one hour per day.
    • Limit parties to five people or fewer.

    Curbside service is still available at the Main Library, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    The Downtown Branch Library, located in City Hall, remains closed at this time.

    Lynchburg Museum at the Old Court House and Point of Honor

    Closed to the public until further notice. All events and programs at these locations have been postponed. The grounds of Point of Honor remain open daily from dawn to dusk. 


    Lynchburg Parks & Recreation Department

    As of August 17, 2020
    We have classes and programs still running while continuing to adhere to the safety guidelines. The Miller Center is open for business purposes only, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–12:30pm. However, classes that have been scheduled at the Miller Center will continue to meet at the previously scheduled time. If you have any concerns, please give us a call at (434) 455-5858 during the business hours listed above.

    Community Market
    We appreciate the Lynchburg community’s support of small businesses and local farms. Stop by on Saturday for your weekly farmers market haul. We’re also still doubling all SNAP purchases at the Market; visit the customer service window in the back of the Market for more info. We are encouraging customers to pre-order from our vendors and for all customers to wear masks at the Market while following all posted signage inside and out. The Gallery and Pride of Virginia are still closed. We are continually assessing reopening the Gallery and hope to be able to soon.

    Neighborhood Centers

    Neighborhood services will continue to be offered various outdoor programs and services at all six neighborhood center locations. Facilities will remain closed to the public at this time.

    Templeton Center

    The center will open with limited class sizes and restricted number of visitors in the building. Please call us with any questions prior to visiting (434) 455-4115.

    Nature Zone & Ivy Creek Park

    We will continue to limit the number of visitors to the Nature Zone. Please call the Nature Zone prior to your visit with any questions at 434-455-5828. We are continuing to limit the number of visitors to the cabin at Ivy Creek Park, as well. When visiting the Ivy Creek Park cabin to rent a kayak or canoe, please check in with staff upon entry for additional guidance. Please call the cabin prior to your visit with any questions at 434-455-5828 during weekdays and 434-385-4294 during weekends.

    General Guidelines

    • Please wash your hands
    • Please do a personal Health Screening prior to visiting. If you are sick, or exhibiting any symptoms, DO NOT visit our facilities.

    While some of our classes and programs will be running, our buildings are still closed to the general public/walk-ins. We will update the public regarding our buildings as we move closer to fully reopening. All of our aquatics facilities are still closed, until further notice. Rentals are available again, including indoor and outdoor, with special guidelines.
