About EyeOnWater
What is Cellular Read Technology?
Lynchburg Water Resources recently transitioned your water meter to new Cellular Read Technology. Instead of our meter technicians reading your meter by radio transmission once a month, our crews now receive the data IMMEDIATELY. We will be able to notify you of a possible leak right away. This new technology is exciting because it improves efficiency, accuracy, and information about your water usage.
What does it mean for you?
The new technology allows you to be more informed about how much water you’re using. The system delivers the data through the EyeOnWater website and app, which can be downloaded onto your mobile device. While our crews check for leaks each day, EyeOnWater allows you to know of a possible leak IMMEDIATELY - even if you’re away from home. That means tremendous cost savings and reduced property damage because a leak can be detected right away instead of days or weeks later.
When will this technology be available?
We will be transitioning the entire City to Cellular Read Technology over the next 5 years. You can see when you will be upgraded to the new technology using our interactive map. You will also be notified via mail when your meter is upgraded. Once you have the new technology, you can sign up for EyeOnWater to track your water usage. Signing up for EyeOnWater is simple!
