Zoning & Land Use

The Zoning Ordinance regulates matters pertaining to uses permitted in specific zoning districts. Examples include residential occupancy, building setbacks from streets, yard regulations, differentiating principal and accessory structures (including residential and commercial uses), home occupations, livestock and poultry, and sign regulations. The Zoning Administrator is tasked with the interpretation and enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. A link to the ordinance is available here: Zoning Ordinance (link to Municode).

The process to change the zoning designation of a property involves a review by City staff, a recommendation from the City's Planning Commission, and action by the City Council. Additional information about that process is available.
