    Voter Registration Deadline October 16, 2017

     CITY OF LYNCHBURG RESIDENTS
    WHO WISH TO VOTE IN THE
    LYNCHBURG CITY GENERAL ELECTION

    November 7, 2017

    If you have not yet registered to vote in Lynchburg, or need to make changes to your name and/or address on our records, you must file a voter registration application by Monday, October 16, 2017. You can register or update your registration online at https://www.vote.virginia.gov, or visit the Registrar’s Office at 825 Kemper Street, Kemper Street Station, Suite A or call 434-477-5999 to have an application mailed. The Registrar’s Office is open Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    In-person absentee voting began at the Registrar’s Office on Friday, September 22nd and will continue through Saturday, November 4th.  For your convenience, the Registrar’s Office will be open on Saturday, October 28th and Saturday, November 4th from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  The deadline to apply for a mailed absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

    Remember Photo ID is required!  You will need to show one acceptable photo identification card (photo ID) whenever you vote in person. This is Virginia law for all voters.

    Many types of photo ID are acceptable for voting in Virginia. You only need to show ONE acceptable photo ID to vote.

    Photo IDs can be used to vote up to one year after the ID has expired.

    Acceptable forms of valid identification:

    • Virginia driver’s license
    • Virginia DMV-issued photo ID
    • United States passport
    • Employer-issued photo ID
    • Student photo ID issued by a school, college, or university located in Virginia
    • Other U.S. or Virginia government-issued photo ID
    • Tribal enrollment or other tribal photo ID
    • Virginia Voter Photo ID card

    Need a photo ID?

    If you don’t have one of these, simply go to the Registrar's office to get a free Voter Photo ID, even on Election Day!
