Tax Free Weekend for Emergency Preparedness Items

    Changes to Virginia's Tax-Free Weekend for 2017

In the past, the Virginia offered separate sales tax holidays for back-to-school shopping, hurricane-preparedness and Energy Star products. This year the events will be combined into one tax-free weekend, scheduled for August 4-6, 2017.

During the sales tax holiday period, consumers can purchase qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax. This includes qualifying items purchased online, by mail or over the phone.

And, while you're saving money this weekend, be sure to sign up for LynchburgAlerts. It's tax-free all the time and doesn't cost a thing. Receive critical information quickly in a variety of situations: severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods, just to name a few.

You will receive time-sensitive messages however you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. You choose where, you choose how.
