Parks and Recreation
Lynchburg’s public parks encompass 850 acres of land, from neighborhood parks to the amazing natural riches of the Blackwater Creek Natural Area. Our extensive trail system links parks and natural areas with over 15 miles of paved and unpaved trails for citizens to enjoy.
Our low-key, fun recreational programs and activities in arts, athletics, wellness and natural heritage programs are offered in recreational centers and parks throughout the city, and serve children, families, and adults. For more information on all our fantastic parks, trails, and recreational activities, click on our sidebar menu to the left.
Canoe & Kayak Rentals
Ivy Creek Park is an oasis. What better way to enjoy the serene surroundings of Ivy Creek Park’s Clemmons Lake than to rent a canoe or kayak? This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys a relaxing, leisurely float on the lake, a great location for fishing, or a chance for novice users to get experience on the lake before moving to a larger body of water. Come join in the summer fun by visiting Ivy Creek Park and hitting the water!
Canoe Adventure Birthday Parties Party includes a brief orientation to canoeing, a ride around Ivy Creek Park’s Clemmons Lake, and of course a few paddling games! For more information, visit our website.
