On Monday, March 16, the City of Lynchburg will conduct a test of its Lynchburg Alerts Emergency Notification System. Commonly known as a Reverse 9-1-1 system, Lynchburg Alerts gives the City the capability to deliver important emergency information when there is a threat to the safety and well-being of residents. The system can contact residents by telephone, email, text message, and cell phone.

    Dear Citizens,

City Council and staff need your help in assessing our collective accomplishments during FY 2014 (July 1, 2013 -June 30, 2014). Following is a survey that collapses a few of our major accomplishments into the twelve pillars that support making Lynchburg "a great place to live, work, and play".

Recent news reports concerning Ebola have caused many people to be concerned. The Lynchburg Fire Department is releasing the following statement and cautioning residents to not overreact to misinformation and hysteria.

The Lynchburg Fire Department is continually monitoring this issue and maintains a state of preparedness. The Department has provided information and training to personnel for the unlikely event that we encounter a person with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

NerdWallet, a personal finance website based in San Francisco, recently conducted a study to find the best cities for work-life balance—and Lynchburg made the list at #19!

The City of Lynchburg wants to hear from you, and to make it easier, a brand new online tool, “Lynchburg is Listening,” is being launched.  “Lynchburg is Listening” gives residents the opportunity to be heard through online discussions on projects, informal surveys, and posting of ideas through an easy-to-use interface.  This new application will also help facilitate ideas among members of the community.
