    The City of Lynchburg is asking residents these three important questions that will assist City Council and staff with budget preparations currently underway for Fiscal Year 2020 (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020.

    Each fall, the City of Lynchburg conducts a citywide Leaf Collection Program to assist residents with the disposal of leaves. This year, in an effort to improve the leaf collection process, the  City of Lynchburg's Public Works Department is piloting a new schedule for leaf collection.

    Due to a break on the raw waterline from the Pedlar Reservoir, the following zones will receive treated drinking water from the James River until further notice:

    Beginning Monday, November 5, and continuing into the following week of November 12, Atherholt Road between Tate Springs Road and crossing Langhorne Road will experience rolling closures and flagging operations while contractors for Level 3 Communications, LLC conduct installation of fiber optics and pavement boring operations. These closures and flagging operations will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily until work is completed in the project area.
     

    Based on the 2010 U.S. Census, the City’s poverty rate is 24%. So, what does that mean? It means in 2017 that a one-person household with income less than $12,060 is living in poverty.
