On Thursday and Friday, April 20-21 and Monday, April 24, Church Street will be closed from Fifth Street to Seventh Street to allow for base stone and paving operations. Bank of the James customers and local traffic may travel up Seventh Street from Commerce Street and make a right turn onto Church Street which will be converted to two-way traffic during the detour.
Sixth Street at Church Street will also be closed for this portion of work. The closure will allow crews with the Downtown Utility & Streetscape to install base paving. All through traffic will detour from Fifth Street to Commerce Street during the week.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, April 25-26, Church Street will be closed at the second driveway of the Bank of the James, and up to and including the intersection of Seventh Street to allow for the continuation of base stone and paving operations. Sixth Street will be opened and be converted to two-way traffic to allow Bank of the James customers and local traffic to travel in and out of Church Street from Fifth Street and Rivermont Avenue.
Church Street will open to one lane, through traffic on Thursday, April 27.
