Construction of Phase B of the James River Interceptor Project (JRI) is now complete and Jefferson Street is now open to two-way traffic from Ninth Street to Washington Street. Horseford Road is also completely open again to one-way traffic. Pedestrian walkways and bike trails are also open.
On Monday, November 4, Phase C of the JRI Project will begin and is expected to take less than two months to complete. During the construction phase of this project, half of the existing public parking lot adjacent to the park will be closed. Jefferson Street will remain open to two-way traffic; however, there may be a temporary disruption to repair the settled cobblestone near the parking lot entrance.
The existing pedestrian trail in the rear of the parking lot will remain open but may have to be narrowed or closed for short periods during construction to allow for construction tie-in to the existing 48" interceptor.
The City appreciates everyone’s patience throughout these construction projects.
