Registration is now open for Lynchburg Parks and Recreation’s 2014 summer camps. New this year is the week-long Archery Camp, and a new twist on an old favorite, the Young Naturalist Camp, which focuses on the local watershed. The ever-popular Summer at the Center camp and Fairview eXtreme camp offer kids from ages 6 to 11 a summer of fun with trips to the pool, traditional camp games & crafts, and fitness activities.
The Archery Camp is appropriate for kids ages 8 to 16. Campers will learn about this age-old sport and obtain new knowledge throughout the week. The camp is Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily. The camp costs $45 for Lynchburg residents and $60 for non-residents. The registration deadline is July 7.
YOUNG NATURALIST CAMP
The Young Naturalist Camp is a half-day camp that will be packed with fun as children learn “What’s a Watershed?” and discover the importance of healthy waters. Designed for children ages 6 to 8, this week-long camp is Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. daily. The camp costs $50 for Lynchburg residents and $65 for non-residents. The registration deadline is June 16.
SUMMER AT THE CENTER
Summer at the Center is an all day camp that takes place at Diamond Hill Center and Yoder Center that presents kids ages 6 to 11 a full day of play with everything from traditional games and crafts to cultural arts and enrichment. The camp has two sessions at both locations: Monday, June 16 through Friday, July 11 and Monday, July 21 through Friday, August 15. Both sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The fee is $80 for Lynchburg residents and $120 for non-residents. The registration deadline for both sessions is June 9.
FAIRVIEW eXTREME SUMMER CAMP
The Fairview eXtreme Summer Camp at the Fairview Center is a half-day camp where kids ages 6 to 11 will learn new life skills and acquire an appreciation for fitness, teamwork, and nature. Fairview eXtreme has two sessions: Monday, June 16 through Friday, July 11 and Monday, July 21 through Friday, August 15. These half-day sessions are from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily. The fee is $80 for Lynchburg residents and $120 for non-residents. There is no registration deadline; however, early registration is encouraged as the camps fill up quickly.
