    New Downtown Parking Location Available

Through a new partnership, the City of Lynchburg and the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy (CVCJA) are now offering free public parking in the CVCJA parking lot located at 1130 Commerce Street on the corner of 12th and Commerce Streets.

The parking lot is now open for free public parking during the weekdays, Monday - Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. - 2:30 a.m.  On the weekends, the parking lot will be open for free public parking starting at 5:00 p.m. Friday and remaining open until Monday at 2:30 a.m.

Vehicles left in the parking lot outside of the posted hours for the free public parking will be subject to towing.  The CVCJA will be monitoring the lot.

“We appreciate CVCJA continuing its history of being a collaborative downtown partner with the City and opening this lot to the public,” said Parking Manager Dave Malewitz.  “This partnership will provide additional convenient parking options for people who live, work and play downtown.”

“Available and convenient public parking is a critical issue as Downtown Lynchburg continues to grow with new retail stores, restaurants and residential development,” said Marjette Upshur, Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “We are happy to collaborate with private sector owners to ensure that those working and visiting can fully experience all that downtown has to offer.”
