On Friday, September 7, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., the public is cordially invited to attend the 10th Annual Get Downtown street festival. Over 170 local vendors, 28 food trucks, performance stages on three blocks and five area colleges are scheduled to participate in this Main Street event that attracts thousands of people each year. This year, the street festival has been extended until 10:00 p.m. Come enjoy stilt walkers, a fire show, the Rise Up Rock Climbing Wall, Lynchburg City Schools’ City Strings, a kids’ zone, music by Whole New Me, The Dundies, Jake Z and the Locals, craft beers, visit the booths of downtown businesses and non-profit organizations, and much more.
In conjuction with the festival, please note the following:
♦ On Friday, September 7 at 5:30 p.m., Main Street (from Sixth Street to Commerce Street) will be closed to vehicular traffic and will reopen after 10:30 p.m.
♦ All vehicles must be moved from Main Street by 5:00 p.m. on the day of event. “No Parking” reminder signs will be posted earlier in the week.
♦ Traffic on cross streets from 13th to 6th will be affected. Barricades will be placed at the intersections of cross streets at Commerce and Church Streets blocking entry and exits to Main Street.
♦ Parking decks and parking lots with exits on Main Street will be barricaded. Businesses are asked to have employees leave before 5:30 p.m. on the day of the event or invite them to stay and enjoy the festival.
♦ The number of public shuttles outside of the event has been increased to help prevent congestion in the downtown area on the night of the event. To view shuttle locations and information, visit www.getdowntownlynchburg.com/shuttles.
