Beginning Monday, March 18 and continuing for approximately eight months (through November 2019), Monday - Friday,7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., F. L. Showalter, a contractor for the Department of Water Resources, will begin work on the Fairview Heights Water and Sewer Upgrade Project. This project will consist of replacing the aging and undersized two-inch waterline with a new eight-inch waterline and replacing some sections of aging sewer pipes that cannot be rehabilitated.
The project is planned in four phases and will affect some residents on Mackel Street, Carter Street, Sabine Avenue, Leyburn Street, Gills Street, Light Street and Nelson Street. Residents in these affected areas will be notified in advance of work occurring directly on their street and in front of their homes.
At times, street parking may be restricted and notices will be posted in advance of any parking restrictions. Residents will have access to their homes at all times; however, through traffic may be restricted on a case-by-case basis. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
Motorists should be alert and aware of all posted detours and street closures in this area.
