    Electoral Board Minutes

     Lynchburg Electoral Board Meeting
    February 9, 2017, 3:00 p.m.
    Registrar’s Office Conference Room


     Members present:        Patricia M. Bower, Chair, Joan S. Jones, Vice Chair, John W. Cobbs, Secretary
    Others present:            Steve Troxell; Wendell Walker; Kyle Sparrgrove; Republican Party Reps
                                       Kim Conner, Deputy Registrar; Karen D. Patterson, General Registrar
    Call to Order
    Ms. Bower called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

    Approval of Minutes
    Ms. Bower asked for a motion for approval of the minutes from the January 3, 2017 meeting.  Mr. Cobbs motioned that the minutes be approved as submitted, Ms. Jones seconded. The minutes were unanimously approved.

    Old Business
    Status of Relocation of Registrar’s Office
    A summary of the update received from Public Works Director, Clay Simmons regarding Kemper Street Station was given by Ms. Patterson.  It is estimated the building will be move in ready in approximately 2-4 weeks.

    New Precinct
    Ms. Patterson reported that the required form for polling place relocation from Memorial Christian Church to the old Lynchburg Christian Academy building, currently known as Liberty Campus 701 Fellowship Hall, has been sent to the Department of Elections for approval.

    New Business
    Appointment of Election Officials
    Ms. Bower thanked those in attendance representing the Republican Party for submitting the list of proposed election officials.  Questions, answers and discussion regarding interviews, placement and appointments followed.
    Mr. Cobbs motioned to accept the appointment and tentative appointments of election officials for the 2017 term as submitted.  The motion was seconded by Ms. Jones and was unanimously approved.

    Other Business
    Mr. Cobbs announced that Ms. Jones would soon be rotating off of the Electoral Board and commended her for being a valued team member, expressing much appreciation for her good work.

    There being no further business, Ms. Bower adjourned the meeting at 4:15 p.m.

    The next meeting will be scheduled at a later date.
