    Land Records

    Records of land transactions for the City of Lynchburg are located in the public records area of the clerk’s office. The records exist from 1805 to present day.  You can view property records, tax records and property transfers for the City of Lynchburg on the GIS site.

    These records are available to the public for reference and research. Copies of the records can be provided at the cost of $0.50 per page.

    Recordation

    All recordation of land transactions in the city of Lynchburg takes place in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. Instruments presented for recordation must meet the Standards for Recorded Instruments as set forth by the Library of Virginia, pursuant to Code of Virginia 55-108. Recordings are taken between 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

    The Virginia Courts Deed Calculation System can be used to calculate fees and taxes for recording deeds and contracts. Please contact the Clerk’s office if you have specific questions about recording an instrument. Remote Internet Access to land records is available on a subscription basis.
