Council Member Beau Wright (At-large)
Beau Wright is a 3rd generation Lynchburg native and an 8th generation Central Virginian. After graduating from E.C. Glass High School, in 2007, he received a BA in Government and History from the College of William & Mary. He is also a graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.
Beau currently serves as the Director of Operations for Protect Democracy, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization. Prior to his joining Protect Democracy, from 2011 to 2017, he served in numerous capacities in the White House under President Obama. In his last role there, as the Senior Deputy Director of Operations and Director for Finance, Beau was responsible for managing the White House's appropriation and advising senior White House leadership on budget strategy.
Beau currently serves on the development committee for Lynchburg Beacon of Hope. An avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, he lives in Downtown Lynchburg, a stone's throw from the James, and a short drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Elected to City Council in May 2018, Beau will serve a four-year term from July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2022.
