A number of genealogical and local history resources are located here in Lynchburg. 

The Jones Memorial Library has one of the largest genealogical and historical collections in the state of Virginia.  The Jones Memorial Library's website contains a page of useful genealogy links.  You may also find the genealogy links on our website helpful.

Point of Honor is the Federal-era mansion of Dr. George Cabell, Sr., friend and physician of Patrick Henry. The Cabell home has been carefully restored and completely furnished to re-create the designs and details of its era

Sandusky, Major George Christian Hutter's beautiful home, may well be Lynchburg's most historic house as it is the preeminent site associated with the Civil War Battle of Lynchburg.

Anne Spencer House - Anne Spencer, a Harlem Renaissance poet, lived in Lynchburg for most of her life.  A librarian at the then all-black Dunbar High School, she and her husband built Edenkral. It is possible to tour both the home and its gardens which have been restored to their original beauty.

Old City Cemetery - The oldest public cemetery in Virginia still in use today.  Opened in 1806, it includes graves of many Civil War soldiers.  Check out the Diuguid Burial Records.

At the Lynchburg Museum, located in the Old Lynchburg Courthouse at the top of Monument Terrace, you can journey into Lynchburg's past and see history unfold right before your eyes.
